some of yall may remember my previous report on the one, the only turkmenbashi (father of turkmens) saparmurat niyazov and his plans to build an ice city in the midst of one of the world's hottest deserts. Link
sadly, it appears as if that plan has been put on the back ummm freezer for the time being.
there is good news tho. amazing tho it may seem, it has nothing to do with geico.
earlier this month, niyazov arranged to have part one of the most popular book in all turkmenistan--the ruhnama--launched into earth orbit where one can only hope its benefits will rain down upon the entire planet.
the ruhnama or 'book of the soul' was of course written by good ol turkmenbashi (the first part was completed in 2001) and is required reading in all turkmenistan schools. adults are only compelled to read it on saturdays.
a turkmenistan flag, a presidential standard and the book were placed into a special container and then loaded onto a russian dnepr booster rocket which departed earth from kazakhstan's baykonur launch site.
neiltralny--the official turkmenistan news organ proclaimed "The Book that conquered the hearts of millions on earth is now conquering space!"
the container is designed to keep its conquest going around and around overhead for another 150 years.
aint technology wonderful?
