Some Flak From Iraq
Published on August 31, 2005 By kingbee In Politics

we the sons of mesopotamia, land of the prophets, resting place of the holy imams, the leaders of civilization and the creators of the alphabet, the cradle of arithmetic have spent most of the summer writing a draft constitution.  by the prophet's beard, it was no easy chore even tho we had 139 constitutions given to us as samples.

one of those was highly recommended to us by our beloved liberators mpbut. naturally it was theirs.

while studying it, we came across something that made us wonder how strictly we gotta adhere to one of these constitutions.  we know it's no koran of course, but what's the point of having to spend hours arguing whether a law that is in disagreement with islam is void  or if a law that's opposed to democracy is invalid if we can just pick and choose at a later date.

for example, the us constitution article 1, section 8 limits declarations of war solely to the congress.  the learned infidels who wrote this document apparently felt that allowing the president to do so risked the possibility of a president acting like a king.

we hate to sound like we have the brains of a camel, but how did bush manage to order an invasion of our illustrious nation without a congressional declaration of war?

is this one of those cases of what americans refer to as 'do what we say, not what we do'?

Lame is as lame does.

From the link you posted guy:

The Bush administration and its supporters in Congress say Saddam has kept a stockpile of chemical and biological weapons in violation of U.N. resolutions and has continued efforts to develop nuclear weapons. Bush also has argued that Iraq could give chemical or biological weapons to terrorists.

Pretty clear to me that the initial reasons for going to war with Iraq was a sham, and Congress was duped into agreeing with this poor excuse for a resolution. I guess what it does point out to Iraqis is that it doesn't matter what you say if you want to do what you want to do. Lies are meaningless. Just convince your political body that your some kind of patriot, or nationalist hero, and they'll follow you anywhere.

As Baffled in Iraq says, "Do what we say, not what we do."

You really are getting lame:

i passed your comment and link on to 'baffled in baghdad'. here is their response:

drguy cannot be a real american. he is either the heretical osann bin landers trying to sow confusion or perhaps (this is more likely) one of the infamous used camel sellers who used to brick their camels in order to claim they got more miles to the gallon of water.

he surely cannot be a conservative who values as strict interpretation of the constitution as we do the surae or he would place a fatwa on anyone who suggested a congressional authorization to invade iraq was the same as a declaration of war.

the response to your comment from 'baffled in baghdad' is as follows:

by following the devious reasoning proffered by the bush administration as a guide to our own constitutional applications, we could then claim a burka is the equivalent of a voting booth for women?
