we the sons of mesopotamia, land of the prophets, resting place of the holy imams, the leaders of civilization and the creators of the alphabet, the cradle of arithmetic have spent most of the summer writing a draft constitution. by the prophet's beard, it was no easy chore even tho we had 139 constitutions given to us as samples.
one of those was highly recommended to us by our beloved liberators mpbut. naturally it was theirs.
while studying it, we came across something that made us wonder how strictly we gotta adhere to one of these constitutions. we know it's no koran of course, but what's the point of having to spend hours arguing whether a law that is in disagreement with islam is void or if a law that's opposed to democracy is invalid if we can just pick and choose at a later date.
for example, the us constitution article 1, section 8 limits declarations of war solely to the congress. the learned infidels who wrote this document apparently felt that allowing the president to do so risked the possibility of a president acting like a king.
we hate to sound like we have the brains of a camel, but how did bush manage to order an invasion of our illustrious nation without a congressional declaration of war?
is this one of those cases of what americans refer to as 'do what we say, not what we do'?
