sundance cable & court tv will be airing another hour of first amendment project short films tonite.
the times ive indicated are most likely only applicable to viewers in the central standard zone (i got em from a site run by a texas publication). so be sure to check your own local listings.
here's tonite's lineup:
- "some assembly required" (d: john walter): everyone's favorite cheesy director's film about this summers republican convention in nyc deals with the conflict between security and first amendment protection of free speech and public assembly. airs dec. 14 at 8pm on sundance, 9pm on court tv.
- "no joking" (d: bob balaban): features previously unseen footage (a rare treat and a must-see for anyone who is at all interested in the first amendment and/or the history of modern standup comedy) with eric bogosian and richard dreyfuss discussing free speech. airs dec. 14 at 8:30pm on sundance, 9:30pm on court tv.
the blurbs are summaries of descriptions by whomever reviewed them for the site on which i located details bout the broadcasts (which would be theaustinchronicles.com; here's a link: Link ).
last week's franken vs fox flick was a riot. the other film about the controversial former nj poet laureate didnt start any riots. both were well worth watching.
john waters' jaundiced view of anything he sees thru the lens--in this case, last summer's rnc--and unseen footage of lenny bruce at war with everyone and anyone who wanted to shut him up may just accomplish the seeming impossible task of making tuesday nite tv worth much more than the price of the power your set requires.
altho im gonna have to go out for a good part of the day, ill try to bump this up a couple times until the final us broadcast in hawaii.
