how do fundamentalists and others who refuse to accept the possibility of evolution because it contradicts a literal interpretation of divinely revelated or inspired literature explain away the reality of previous ice ages?

i dont recall anyone in any version of the torah or old testament mentioning polar ice incursions....yet they certainly occured.

Could God create a rock so heavy he couldn't lift it?

That's always been my favorite.

Just because something wasn't mentioned in the Torah or the Bible does not mean that it never existed. Are cats ever mentioned in the Bible?
I also prefer trusting sciences when they are built on repeatable experiments and observations and not on calculations that are always sketchy in an attempt to figure out our past.
Sure, I might have blind faith in the Bible, but some people have blind faith in man, so I don't see why my faith's any worse.

Cats aren't as important as Creation.

what about that damned rock?

could the omnipotent god make a rock too big for him to lift?

But doesn't the absence of mention in the Bible mean that the Bible is saying that cats never existed?

could the omnipotent god make a rock too big for him to lift?

Who knows? Some things are beyond human comprehension.

This is all very interesting and some of you have stated some really interesting points. I've been thinking about Evolution and at what point God created this earth and man recently because of a Discovery Channel program my husband and I were watching, "Walking with the Cavemen". My husband's question to me, not in the same wording, and I hope I remembered what it was he questioned, "if man is from ape, and eventually became as intelligent as we are, why are there still monkeys and gorrillas around that don't speak, why are they not as intelligent as man?" "What about the ice age?" As some of you have questioned. He made some good points that started me thinking and I have thought about putting my thoughts together into a blog.

What's funny is that I'm right. If you honestly think that everything in existence is not outside the reach of human comprehension, then you're no different than a teenager (which might explain a few things).

It doesn't mention what kind of houses the people lived in, either.

I'm reminded of a scene from the movie "Inherit the WInd".
Frederic March (as William Jennings Bryan) to Spencer Tracy (as Clarence Darrow): "We used to be on the same side of issues, and now we're on opposite sides". (Or something to that effect.)
Spencer Tracy: Well, that's evolution for you."
