He Meant What He Said and Said What He Meant

six months after robert novak spotlighted valerie plame, our justice department--charged with determining who told whom when and why--launched its investigation.

while wowin the yokels at a press conference, shortly thereafter, ol honest george told us exactly what he planned to do:

"If there's a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. If the person has violated law, that person will be taken care of."

truer words was never spoke.

i'm all for this kinda stuff cuz i believe everyone who lies to a grand jury, is then convicted by a jury and is on his way to the joint should have a powerful friend to take care of him.  that goes double for grown men who let others to call em 'scooter'.

don't expect me to suggest cheney don't wanna share with bubba--cuz i'm not even goin there.

(Dude, you gotta blog more!)

A lot of people are characterizing this as a Liberal v. Conservative thing. Well, I'm neither, and I'm pissed to high heaven.

This is one of the most shockingly cronyistic administrations in American history. George W. Bush should go down as the Crony President. His legacy is proving effective government and cronyism cannot coexist.

George W. Bush will go down as the most ineffective and corrosive man that ever occupied the office of President. The damage he has done will harm our country for decades to come and many others will need to clean up the mess GWB will leave behind on January 20, 2009! His library should be built in HELL!

KON, KON,
How many guys did you pardon today?

*KON=King of Nepotism.

Sheesh, Is this guy real?

Hey kingbee good to see even a short article by you.

Now the point, I think after Sandy Berger got off so lightly, George did the right thing letting Libby go prison free, after all Libby still has to pay a huge fine, can NEVER WORK in the public sector again {felony conviction which George let stand} Lost his law license {again the felony conviction}

I think this is punishment enough.

On another note it was real fun to see Hillary feigning outrage at George semi-pardoning Libby with Bill {I pardoned over 400 people} at her side.

your talking about Libby lien to a grand jury about him not telling anyone who the woman worked for.

and it turns out it was her husband not Libby so where is the lie.

and still Libby gets a 250,000 fine and losses his job. because he didn't lie to a grand jury. yep sounds like justice to me

There's an irony in a President impeached for perjury complaining about a White House Aide's commuted sentence for perjury....hmmm!

Yes, this is cronyism at its finest. But cronyism is something our politicians have undertaken for years, regardless of politics. It doesn't make it right, true, but it does lead me to wonder if ANY of them are fit to lead the nation!

A lot of people are characterizing this as a Liberal v. Conservative thing. Well, I'm neither, and I'm pissed to high heaven.

a couple months ago, someone told me she'd no longer comment upon and/or discuss anything involving our president because she'd concluded he "he does whatever he wants...he just doesn't care."

'whatever he wants' may be overstatement;' whatever he can' is dead on.  as far as not caring, i thnk she meant 'without regard for consequences'.

she couldn't be more correct there.  (why anyone expects anything other than that from him is beyond me; what else can be expected of someone whose previous life/career was a series of wrecks from which he crawled unscathed?)

keep my mouth shut isn't an option for me. if it was, i woulda been much less busy as a kid having my ass beat by other kids, most of whom warned me bout what to expect if i uttered another word.

instead, i'm trying to laff this shit off rather than letting it get to me.  still...i'm pissed too.

others will need to clean up the mess GWB will leave behind

as noted in my previous response, they been doin it all his life.

after Sandy Berger got off so lightly

berger was convicted of a misdemeanor; libby of 4 felonies.  unless you're saying berger should have been indicted for more serious crimes (which is a whole other issue and i'm sure we could both dredge up hundreds of others who were over or under charged).

George did the right thing letting Libby go prison free

i've been looking and am so far unable to find another instance of a presidential commutation issued prior to its beneficiary being imprisoned.

There's an irony in a President impeached for perjury complaining about a White House Aide's commuted sentence for perjury

it would be ironic if both had been convicted and then clinton had his sentence commuted.  impeachment is the practical equivalent of indictment.
