circumcision may be the 'slice of life' if results of a french study in south africa are corraborated by tests now being conducted in uganda and kenya.   based on their research, the french team believes men without foreskins are 60% less likely to become infected by the hiv virus.

there are lots of pros and cons.  blah blah blah blah.   here's the link:  Link

sorry no pix.

BUT....

here's what makes this all worthwhile:

Advocating circumcision "seems a pretty dramatic thing to suggest, or at least a few years ago it seemed so," said Kevin De Cock, director of the WHO's HIV/AIDS Department, admitting that the South African trial had had a resounding impact.

it's not often you run across someone who seems to  destined to enter his particular profession.

one final note: should this circumcision thing go huge in africa, you may soon be able to buy a wallet  that can be transformed into a suitcase in just a few quick strokes.

This actually is a dangerous assumption seeing that if people think that circumcison prevents HIV then out of the window goes all the real preventative measures such as condoms, which in my view isnt a foolsafe preventative measure either.

PBoi--no one said "prevent." Kingbee said, "reduce HIV vulnerability." One assumes that the researchers will be just as careful in explaining their results that they don't mislead the public into thinking it's preventative.
